By
completing the Kitemark we aimed to achieve the following: ·
to consider our own values and
practice; ·
to develop relationships with a range
of other providers, rather than working in isolation or competition; ·
to engage in self evaluation and to
strive for improvement; ·
to recognise different approaches to
learning; ·
to be open to new ideas and be
prepared to make changes; ·
to assure the public that our setting
achieves high quality provision. Achieving
the Kitemark indicates a high level of quality provision. Our
travel through the Kitemark process has taken three years, we began this
journey in the summer term of 2003.
During this time we have completed eight modules achieving the West
Sussex Kitemark Standards in each. Each
module involved: ·
responding to self-evaluation
questions; ·
observations from our Kitemark mentor; ·
working on an action plan; ·
observations from a Kitemark verifier
and discussion on areas of development; ·
working on areas for development; ·
producing a portfolio; ·
evidence presented to a verification
panel for approval. The
benefits of undertaking the quality assurance scheme were: ·
all areas of practice were evaluated
and developed ensuring high quality provision; ·
all staff developed skills and habits
of self-evaluation. The
benefits of achieving the Accreditiaiton Award are: ·
acknowledgement and recognition of
high quality standards of practice and hard work; ·
raised confidence of practitioners in
their own abilities; ·
indicates to others that we offer a place
of high quality for children and their parents; ‘The
essence of the Kitemark is that Quality is a journey, not a
destination’ we therefore remain dedicated to continuing our mission to provide high quality
provision and practice through self evaluation. |
